Dr. Bill King

Dr. Bill King was born in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby, British Columbia. Following his graduation from Burnaby Central High School in 1971, he attended the University of British Columbia and in 1978 received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the UBC School of Dentistry.

Dr. King practiced general dentistry for 7 years in Vancouver. His experience in general dentistry gave him a broad background in all aspects of dentistry and this has proven very helpful in dealing with the wide variety of dental issues that are encountered for both adults and children in an Orthodontic practice.

In 1985, Dr. King was accepted into the Orthodontic Specialty Program at the University of Toronto Dental School and spent two years working toward the goal of becoming a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics. The program at the U of T is an internationally recognized leader in the field of Orthodontics. Upon his graduation in 1987, Dr. King received the prestigious Aaron Posen Award for excellence and creativity in the Orthodontic Program.

In July of 1987, Dr. King joined forces with Dr. Christine Mills to establish a bright new orthodontic office in Oakridge Centre. Since that time, both Dr. King and Dr. Mills have managed their separate, busy practices providing Orthodontic services to both adults and children. Over the years, adult Orthodontics has grown substantially and now Dr. King has up to 35% of his patients over the age of 19! It is never too late to consider Orthodontic treatment and Dr. King has treated several patients over the age of 70!

Dr. King provides outstanding Orthodontic treatment to his patients and is well respected in the orthodontic community. He works closely with local dentists and specialists to give his patients the best care. Because of his caring nature and unique sense of humour, he has maintained a great rapport with his patients and staff leading to a relaxed and positive environment in the office. Dr. King is very proud of the excellent, well-trained front desk, laboratory, and clinical staff members that work in the office and ensure that each patient has all of their needs attended to.

Dr. King is active in the Orthodontic community and is the past president of the British Columbia Society of Orthodontists. He attends continuing education courses and study clubs to keep up to date on all of the latest orthodontic techniques. He was also the Chairman of the Canadian Association of Orthodontist Annual Scientific Session that was held in 2004 in Whistler, British Columbia.

Dr. King spent many years as a clinical instructor in Orthodontics at the University of British Columbia, teaching Dental Students about Orthodontics. He also helps run a program at the University for the Orthodontic training of Certified Dental Assistants.

Dr. King and his wife have a daughter attending the University of Victoria. In their spare time they can be found skiing and boarding at Whistler. When Dr. King isn’t volunteering with his daughter’s ski races, he can be found either on the golf course, biking or at the hockey rink.
